5k Awards
Overall winners in the following categories will receive a Gift Certificate from Jus’ Running as well as a handmade Independence Day succulent pot.
1st ($50), 2nd ($45) , 3rd ($40) and 1st Masters ($30), 1st Grand Masters ($30), male and female.
Age Group custom mason jar awards will be given out to the top 3 Female and Male runners in the following categories.
0-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and up

Beer Mile Awards
The fastest male and female runners will receive a $50 gift certificate to Jus’ Running as well as a commemorative custom clay beer stein from Rosa Pottery.
Beer Mile Rules!
- All beers are 12 oz and must be finished before running the next leg.
- The race starts with runners finishing their first beer and then running a quarter of a mile.
- Runners repeat this drink – run pattern 3 more times.
- Finish.
- Beer must be drunk in a typical fashion, no shot gunning etc.
- Competitors who vomit BEFORE the finish line must complete one penalty lap at the end of the race.
- Participants MUST be over 21 and show ID at the event. (Bring your ID no matter how old you are so that you can run)
Firecracker Loop Pricing
The kids fun run is NOT timed.
$5 fee includes a race bib and a finisher medal

Run for Good
We are proud to be partnering with Asheville’s very own Food Connection as our non-profit partner. $5 from each 5k and Beer Mile registration will be donated to the work they are doing in our community. Feel free to add a donation to your registration as well!
Food Connection originated in December of 2014. Since launching over 485,000 fresh meals have gone to feed our neighbors in need we’ve also expanded to serve other parts of Buncombe County including Leicester, Black Mountain, Swannanoa and also parts of Madison County. Food Connection has kept an estimated 170 TONS of fresh meals out of the Buncombe County landfill.
Refund/Cancellation/Transfer Policy
The Asheville Independence Day 5k has a NO REFUND policy.
If you’d like the option of a full refund, we offer RegShield during the registration process to protect your purchase from injury etc. Refunds are subject to RegShield policy and are not backed by Kick It Events. Please read their policies carefully.
You may transfer your registration to another runner up to 3 days before the event using the TRANSFER button on the Race Roster registration page. If you’d like to transfer after that point please email info@kickitevents.com and we can help you.
